Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Prachita Chopra; a  graduate from Christ University . I am a graphic designer. I like colors; yellow tops the list. I love to travel and sometimes when I am not travelling I close my eyes and imagine where I’d rather be! My mom Kusum Chopra, is my creative support at The Little Things.

How would you describe what you do; and how long have you been making and creating?
The Little Things was never planned. It just happened. It started 4 years ago; out of our love to create handmade personalized gifts for family and friends. Little did we know that this hobby was turning into a full time vocation. People loved our work & we soon realized one thing – “If you are good at something never do it for free”. I started crafting gifts when I was in college (in 2011) and was always floored with gift orders from my friends. We named our venture  “The Little Things” because little thoughtful gestures go a long way.  Most important, The Little Things makes me happy person.

Tell us about your recent works and your proposed showcase at the By Hand, From The Heart.
We will be presenting a lot of new products – memo pads, coasters, clocks, fridge magnets, planners, etc. All our designs are digitally crafted with themes such as abstract, doodles and illustrations. Few are hand painted. By Hand, From The Heart feels like the right place to meet the right people! I was told that By Hand, From The Heart is not a flea market, it is a makers-centric platform. Now that is something every artist would love to hear. I am looking forward to meeting a lot of like-minded people & getting their feedback on how my products can be taken to the next level.

What is a typical day at The Little Things like.
You’d find us hand crafting gifts or brainstorming on what can we do next. Our home studio is always a buzz.

What/who inspires you? Or how do you find inspiration?
My mom. She keeps The Little Things busy & running. TLT wouldn’t be half as good as it is without her. She is an amazing person to work; great at multi-tasking. She handles the operations while I handle the creative aspects. That’s where we see the balance.

Can you describe your creative process and what is the most rewarding part of the creative process for you?
As I had mentioned earlier, we brainstorm. Once the ideas are shortlisted, we start thinking of ways to make the products. Definitely the most rewarding part of creative process is to see the final product in your hands.

What’s the best thing about being a crafter / designer?
Freedom I’d say! We’re free to do what we like, and the most motivating factor is when people adore & love your creations.

What would you say to someone thinking about selling their work?
If you love what you create & if you find happiness in what you do; go ahead and follow the signs. Believe in your work; practice to create well finished products for the market.

Anything exciting on the cards for the coming months?
Yes! We keep adding new products onto our shelves. We’re also trying to make it online so that everyone across India can buy.

Prachita Chopra, will showcase her collection of home decor & gift ideas at the By Hand, From The Heart Artisan & Farmers Market | 7- 8 August 2015 | 10 a.m – 8 p.m | Hanu Reddy Residences, 41/19, Poes Garden, Teynampet, Chennai.
