Jewellery inspired by Nature, tribes, mythology and India rich history. Sounds intriguing? Well, that is Moha for you. MOHA necklaces are a mix of the old & the new. A unique fusion of modern beads, motifs, and pendants with the tribal wearable and tassels. Moha is a Sanskrit word that means “desire”, it stems out of my desire to own offbeat beautiful silver jewellery. MOHA is a very ‘hands-on’ company and we get Silversmiths to work on pieces that have been brought together from the artisans across the country.
The journey of MOHA began with only a handful of custom-made silver earrings. Photographs of these earrings garnered lot of interest on the social media. The responses told me one thing- there was a market and it was something that had people curious. And that is how it all began. The past one and half years has been quite an adventure, putting together a team, working with rural artisans, experimenting with designs and so much more. Hailing from from a very small town in Maharashtra known as Malegaon, Geetanjali is proud of the fact that the town is known to be the handloom hub of Maharashtra,
During this journey, there is one instance that I must share. We had a break in at our studio where quite a few valuable jewellery was stolen. I had painstakingly collected all these from various part of the country. Some of the antique pieces were rare. We nearly gave up, but thanks to the support from loved ones I was able to get back up and start fresh.
The biggest joy I have earned through MOHA is having customers share their happiness on wearing a MOHA piece. This is what keeps us motivated and forging ahead. We have had few customers rushing to Moha exhibitions/studio while had to catch flights to other countries or was in India for few days and they still managed to reach us for little while and picked up there favorites. Their faces and happiness satisfies me and gives enthusiasm to create more. But above it all, the fact that we have given the artisans a platform to showcase their wares is what gives us immense joy and satisfaction. I am right now focused on taking MOHA across the country, and opening doors for the artisans.
