A bit about you and what lead you to set-up Shmoozie’s Hand-Crafted Ice Creams?
I’m an ice cream lover who took her passion a bit too seriously. I acquired certificate in Ice cream making. Shmoozie’s was born out of the idea of making good ol’ ice cream which is free from artificial additions . Shmoozie’s is big on Flavours and love !What’s been your career highlight so far?- Turning people into ice cream lovers 🙂 Also, when customers get back to me saying that they were staunch chocolate lovers but now are loving trying new flavours!
What has surprised you most about starting a food business?
The feedback can be wildly varied. Always, surprises me how one flavour can be interpreted so differently!
Do you have any kitchen story / recipe story you’d like to share?
Honey Ginger and pomegranate molasses was born out of a sleepless night. I didn’t have a pink coloured ice cream in my freezer. I looked for some ingredients that have the colour pink in them naturally and decided to take up the strenuous task of peeling a large batch of pomegranates. The extended to family members but it turned out to be one of the best flavours!
Ice-cream and frozen desserts – the real story.
Ice cream is dairy based it can be organic or inorganic . But the percentage of milk fat should be above 10% legally. Frozen desserts contain milk fat substitutes like vegetable fat. Ice cream gives you the direct nutrition from milk and cream- calcium and fat.
Handmade/Made in India/ Make in India – What does it mean to you.
The concept of locally sourcing your ingredients always adds to the freshness of the product. Apart from this it helps in building inter-dependency and building a community. You tend develop along the way with everyone. The idea behind making it hand crafted is to eliminate using artificial essences and colouring which are used only to make the product more visibly pleasing. Using natural ingredients are so much more flavour, simple and clean.

What will you be bringing to the makers market?
Fresh summer flavours. Some new flavours like Pecan shortbread and fig jam, Coconut caramel with toasted cashews and some Novelties.
