Tell us a bit about yourself.
A stay-at-home mum to a 9 year old with a Post Graduation in Law and Business Administration neatly tucked in under my belt. Having worked in the corporate sector for 13 years in varied roles, I quit the industry, to take care of my baby boy.
How did you begin Le Rustique?
Wire work intrigued me, so I enrolled for a jewellery making class. It wasn’t as easy as it looked, as it required a lot of muscle power and in a couple of hours, had a sore arm. But, the outcome of such coiling, wire wrapping and creating such simplistic yet one-of-a-kind pieces, got me going to pursue it further and with an asthetic to creativity and handcrafts, the brand, Le Rustique was created.
An anecdote to the name. Started off with the word Rustic, as it was an unconventional jewellery line. Whilst on long distance call discussing plans, the name popped up. How about Rustique instead of Rustic. And then the French connection kicked in, my name (French origin) and voila we have “Le Rustique”.
Le Rustique is an unconventional jewellery brand started off 18 months ago. Rustique or Rustic denotes simplicity and charm.
About the jewelry – design and inspirations.
Our jewellery is handmade with care, amalgamating vibrant coloured natural stones, beads, various wires, metals, fabrics.. to create statement, one-off pieces each with its uniqueness
I believe many women think like me, have similar tastes for the unusual and that’s what inspires me to create jewellery that is original.
What’s is in the making?
Design is all about making things good, better and fantastic for the people who use and wear them. An ardent traveller, loves to explore the local markets and shop for beads, stones, artefacts from each region. Currently compiling our find from Nepal and eagerly awaiting to see it unfold. So, wear your Le Rustique with sheer delight and admiration for the piece you own.
