We chat up with Ramya Harimadhavan, a designer of leather accessories. With in a career in HR and later a marriage that got her closer to her entrepreneurial dream; Ramya set up HYDES STUDIO with the support of her husband a leather designer too. With a flair for design and a long standing dream at heart; Ramya is successfully crafting leather accessories from their workshop – studio in Chennai.
Tell us about your new products and your proposed showcase at the By Hand, From The Heart.
Our new collection concentrate mainly on small goodies with an interesting touch. Say- An elegant petite pouch designed to keep cards, coins and other valuables safe. All day clutch with a contrast stitch pattern at the sides. In addition to these, HYDES STUDIO will propose their signature totes of various sizes and comfortable slings.
What is your personal favorite pick at HYDES STUDIO right now? And why
We are overwhelmed with the response of our camera bag which is chic enough to be toted and definitely our favorite pick right now!! Designed carefully to fit in everyday needs along with detachable portion for camera and lens, hence making it versatile for an everyday wear and fun-filled candid moments day!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten along the way in building your business?
Its no wonder that every entrepreneur will be loaded with advices. The key is to differentiate which contributes to the development of the brand. To me, it has been from my life partner who believes that irrespective of the size of the business, the dedication and self-belief of achieving will make the brand bigger and bigger.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since starting your business?
Being professional!! Professionalism defines the structure of the brand. Responding to clients immediately, formal communication system is much required as it creates a positive image. And establishing a friendly yet professional relationship with the employees is crucial.
You have participated at an earlier edition at BHFTH; share your experience.
It was great to be a part of BHFTH-17th edition – organized to perfection! The team is so quick to respond to any queries put forth. As an exhibitor, we ertr was pleased about the footfall being the right clientele for HYDES STUDIO. Excited and thrilled to be a part of BHFTH at a 19th edition at a new venue.
